FROM DAY ONE, WE’VE TRIED TO RUN SWELL AS A NEW KIND OF
ADVERTISING AGENCY.
We’re not limited to one way of thinking. We constantly look ahead to
meet the ever-evolving way in which our clients’ targets consume information. As such, we consider every
imaginable avenue as a possibility—print, online advertising, blogging, direct mail, e-messaging, packaging,
web design, alternative and traditional outdoor, broadcast, trade show presence, webinars, press and more.

We’re not limited to in-house resources either. We take advantage of technology to transcend geographic
limitations and work with the best talent available, wherever they are. Writers in Chicago, visual artists in
Philadelphia, video editors in Los Angeles... And we choose them for what they bring to each assignment.

Swell Advertising - Who We Are Our founder and Partner/Creative Director, Rich Meyer, is a true believer in smart
creative. Disciplined, strategic creative that surprises and engages its audience
while staying absolutely on message. The ultimate goal of all the creative we do
is to make our clients more successful.

Susan Bacon Gerard, Partner/Director of Strategy & Account Services at Swell,
brings a wealth of experience in strategic thinking to the table. She has worked
with major agencies, run her own agency and worked on the client side.
This helps her approach each new assignment with a 360° view of the
challenges and opportunities it represents.

More About Us

More About Us

Our key strength is brand building. We specialize in understanding consumer
trends, in finding the intersection of truth between a brand and its consumer—that place where a brand’s core
essence resonates with the consumer. Once a brand delivers on this level, it is infinitely more powerful.

Further, we make sure every communication reflects that brand. Every print ad, brochure, sell sheet,
website and microsite speaks with the same voice.

You’ll find we take a refreshingly streamlined approach
to business.
You work with the people who run the place. We’ve built a lean, agile organization of key
professionals, all with big agency experience—and all with a desire to rethink the big agency approach to business.

We make our clients part of the collaborative process from the outset—and we keep them involved throughout
the entire process. We realize that however well we learn your business, you will always know it best.
We find this team approach allows for truer message development and a more potent creative delivery.

We’re fortunate to work for clients who are passionate
about what they do.
Clients who believe in the power of branding and understand that to achieve
it your message must be fresh, engaging and unexpected. Here’s some of the work we've done for them.

Kforce

Trade publications targeting healthcare professionals are littered with recruitment ads featuring smiling nurses, doctors and office workers. The provocative image in this ad stops readers in their tracks. The copy deftly delivers the message that only the best need apply, appealing to the egos of potential applicants and maintaining Kforce's image as an industry leader.

BG & P

Digital technology is making one-on-one marketing not only possible, but affordable. Here, individually personalized, digitally printed postcards drove recipients to their own individualized websites to enter a sweepstakes. This allowed client Binder Graphics & Packaging to capture email addresses for future email marketing efforts.

ROHO/Merlin

Besides stability and comfort, wheelchair users must also concern themselves with protecting their skin from damage. The pixilated image in this ad mirrors the square Merlin sensor pad and creates a portrait of the peace of mind the Merlin delivers.

BASF/Whitmire Micro-Gen

The problem with most fly traps is that they look like fly traps. BASF's Whitmire Micro-Gen has developed a line of traps that don't. So they can be used in restaurants and other public spaces without embarrassment. The sophisticated hero shots in these ads play up the beauty of the Vector traps, and the headlines drive home the benefit.

Hardee’s - Biscuits

Throughout the day, restaurant chain Hardee's appeals to a wide range of customers. Their breakfast menu attracts commuters and seniors. This spot featuring one of their biscuit makers shows customers they're not just getting a great deal, they're getting great food.

Hardee’s - Big Chicken Sandwich

One key demographic for Hardee's is 18 to 24-year-old males. This spot features a giant chicken sandwich designed to satisfy the target's giant appetite. And it serves it up with a fun, irreverent attitude that resonates with this audience.

ROHO/RHE

ROHO, the industry leader in wheelchair cushions, teamed with rival Jay to create a hybrid product combining their individual technologies. This ad graphically demonstrates why both technologies are important.

Keller

Grinding your teeth not only damages tooth surfaces, but can lead to a host of health issues. The visual in this ad graphically reminds dentists of this fact and demonstrates how a simple, inexpensive appliance can solve many of their patients' problems.

ROHO/Airhawk

As every motorcycle rider knows, the joy of long rides is often tempered by the butt numbness they can cause. In this ad, instead of selling Airhawk as the industry-leading butt cushion it is, we positioned it as freedom of the road.

Simpler

Simpler Consulting is in the business of helping businesses and organizations simplify their processes through Lean Transformation. But their own website didn't communicate this in a clear, simple manner. We gave them a clean, organized design and concise copy that speaks effectively to the different industries they serve and reflects their leadership position.

St. John’s Mercy Medical Center - Cancer Center of Excellence

Dealing with cancer is more than a medical challenge—it's an emotional one too. How do you choose the right hospital for you or a loved one? This pair of uplifting spots for St. John's state-of-the-art cancer center features two real St. John's patients who are cancer survivors.

AFB

The driving force behind AFB’s success as a world leader in pet food flavorings is the depth of its Research and Development team. AFB originally wanted a single ad about research, with a yearbook style photo of the entire team. We convinced them to do an ad campaign highlighting individual scientists, to let their passion and dedication speak for the company’s strength.

Stihl

Stihl chainsaws are number one for a reason. People who buy them demand the best and take great pride in the work they do. In this ad, the Stihl chainsaw is an extension of its owner. It’s no longer about what a saw can do, but rather what you can accomplish with it.

Unico

Sometimes, function can follow form. With the unparalleled flexibility of Unico’s heating and cooling systems, architects don’t have to design around cumbersome HVAC systems when building high-end custom homes. We shot the picture on location to dramatically demonstrate that fact.

St. John’s Mercy Medical Center - Women’s and Children’s Health Center

St. John's Women's & Children's Health Center keeps women and their children healthy from birth to giving birth to their own children and beyond. This spot drives that message home, using actual photographs and home movies of one woman to follow her through all the stages of her life.
